 Sevierville,
TN: Dolly Parton was born in Sevierville,
Tennessee on January 19, 1946. She was born in a very small
town called Locust Ridge. She was one of 11 other brothers
and sisters and her parents were Lee and Avie Lee Parton
Dolly's flight to stardom was seen early in her youth when
she began appearing on the radio station in Sevierville
WSEV. She was just 10 years old. She also appeared on the
"then popular" Cas Walker radio shows. As soon
as she graduated from Sevier County High School, she left
for the lights of Nashville, Tennessee, where she became
a national star and a household word. Dolly Parton has received
numerous awards for her many talents including gold records,
Grammy Awards and Academy Award nominations. Dolly Parton
her Dollywood entertainment park in mid 1850's in neighboring
Pigeon Forge. Many of Dolly's family members still live
in the Sevierville area, and several of them, including
her brother Randy, perform regularly at Dollywood.
